The Kuwait Society for Human Rights launches an electronic campaign to raise awareness of the Convention on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination, on the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination, which falls today, March 21.
The launch of the campaign is in line with the association’s role, which seeks to spread awareness among people of the international human rights covenants signed and ratified by Kuwait International, and which it has become obligated to implement.
Mr. Khaled Al-Humaidi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Society, said that the State of Kuwait joined the International Convention on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination in All Its Forms under Law No. 33 of 1968 and it has become an integral part of the Kuwaiti national legislation that is included in the internal legal system of the State of Kuwait, noting that this makes all Government bodies and institutions and individuals abide by its provisions, and it is the responsibility of the Kuwaiti judiciary to ensure their respect.
In conclusion, he recommended the need to harmonize national legislation in line with the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination.
